By the time a camera is released, the very same manufacturer of that new pinnacle of digital imaging technology is already plotting its obsolescence through the development of a newer model. We’ve all been on the hamster wheel of new tech though. Get the highest specs you can for the least money. Which camera system should you invest in? Conveniently, manufacturers and marketers of digital cameras will simplify your decision-making process with quantifiable specs such as megapixel counts and ISO numbers. *IMPORTANT* IR/UV cut filters are required for all lenses!! Budget for repairs (it’s worth fixing - that’s a good thing!) Expose for highlights (favour underexposure) Use higher ISO for creative purposes (CCD digital ‘grain’) Stick to base ISO (160) and adjust exposure in Lightroom Shoot raw (DNG), leave processing to software (Lightroom) Treat this camera like a film rangefinder loaded with ISO 160 Kodachrome colour slide film. It is a user review based on my particular experience with this camera. Leica M8, Summicron 35mm Asph., f8 1/750 sec, ISO 160
